Welcome to the 1st Annual

Welland Canal Spring Shoreline Cleanup

This is a community lead event to help spruce up the cleanliness of the shoreline of the Welland Canal, providing brighter vista's and safer habitat for the wildlife living in and around the 4th Welland Canal.

There will be two starting off points.

1) St. Catharines Museum and Lock 3 Viewing Centre parking lot.

2) Port Colborne Pilot Station. 

Bags will be provided.

Please bring work gloves.

Please dress for the weather.

Boots or hiking shoes highly recommended. Steel toe boots are best if you have them.

Safety:

Please stay back from the water at ALL times.

Please do not handle litter with bare hands. Use trash pick up sticks if available. 

Please stay off the rocks and any area that is noted as off limits.  

Please pair up with at least one other volunteer.  

Please wear brightly coloured clothing, if you have hi-vis please use it.

Please do not handle potentially biohazardous objects such as needles/lancets, discarded hygiene/birth-control, drug paraphernalia. Use flag markers provided to mark their location(s).
